HPV Vaccine

The HPV vaccine is a vaccine designed to protect against the human papillomavirus (HPV), a group of more than 200 related viruses, some of which can cause cervical cancer, other genital cancers, and oropharyngeal cancers. HPV is primarily transmitted through sexual contact. The vaccine can prevent the types of HPV that most commonly lead to these cancers and is recommended for adolescents before they become sexually active, as well as for young adults. The HPV vaccine has been shown to significantly reduce the incidence of HPV-related diseases, including precancerous lesions and cancers, making it an important public health tool in cancer prevention.
