Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is played on a rectangular field, commonly referred to as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to manipulate the ball, but they can also use other parts of the body except for the arms and hands; only the goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball within the penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which cover various aspects of play, including offside, fouls, and corner kicks. Matches are played in two halves, usually lasting 45 minutes each, with a halftime interval. The game is one of the most popular sports worldwide, known for its global tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and its widespread professional leagues. Football fosters teamwork, strategic thinking, and physical fitness, making it a key part of many cultures and societies.
